What is a green business model?
Examples of green business models:
- Functional sales. This gives the manufacturer an incentive to produce high-quality products and use as few resources as possible, e.g. energy, water and materials. The business has a potential for increased income by selling maintenance services, etc.
- Recycling. At the time of selling the product, the business agrees with the customer to take back the used product. Materials from the product can then be recycled, or the product can be repaired and resold. This extends the service life of the product and increases the income of the business.
- Closed loop. Product-manufacturing and design where all the materials used are either recyclable or biodegradable. This eliminates waste, and the sale of the materials creates an income for the manufacturer.
